Contraceptive Implants (also known as the 'bar') are small rods placed under the skin that release the hormone progestogen into the bloodstream. This hormone prevents ovulation and thickens the cervical mucus, preventing sperm from entering the uterus. It is 99.9% effective and lasts up to 3 years.
